Team: 15 Girls League Tag
Coach: Mark Powell
For a group of girls that came together for the first time this year, I couldn’t be more proud of how they embraced each other, showed respect on and off the field and subsequently grew as a team throughout the year. They supported each other from the very first training session and encouraged each other at every opportunity. We had fun at training (with plenty of laughs) but worked hard and the girls showed incredible individual improvement but more importantly as a team throughout the year.
We finished the shortened season in the Top 4 and personally I think they could have won the competition this year! I’m particularly proud of the friendships that were formed and how they simply never, ever, gave up as a team!
We now get ready for next season and I hope the girls all keep working on their speed, fitness, and ball-skills in the off-season.
I can’t wait to see what this team is capable of next year!
Best and Fairest: Sophie Bowden
Sophie demonstrated great leadership, organisation and skill at training and on game day. She is a kind, friendly person on and off the field and the girls clearly felt she was deserving of this award – congratulations Soph!
Coaches Award: Erica Haigh
Erica was outstanding this year, as a player and a goal kicker! She is humble, works really hard and has great respect for everyone on the field. A quiet achiever who leads by example. Well done Erica.
Rookie of the Year: Aaleyah Fonsdituri
For her first year of League-tag, Aaleyah grew in confidence and improved every week. Aaleyah was particularly amazing in defence this year with her speed and determination – the type of person everyone wants in their team! Congratulations on a great season Aaleyah!
